Every child is an artist.

The problem is how to remain an artist once we grows up. - Picasso

Meet the Wanger's

My family is extremely important to me. My husband, Brian, along with my two step-children, Karlie (16) and Cole (15), always keep me moving and attending several school sports games and functions. Karlie is enrolled at EIU as an Early Childhood Education major, and Cole has recently graduated high school and will be attending college for Business.

We welcomed our 7 year old daughter, Henley, on Christmas night, 2015.  She is full of sass and spunk just like her older siblings! Henley is in her second year of Pre-K and is convinced she is going to live with her Dad and I forever. I think I'm ok with that.

Our 3 year old, and final addition to our family, is our son, Liam. He was born in the fall of 2020, and is currently fascinated with Monster Jam and turning my hair grey.

Along with the 6 humans we have running around our home, we also have 2 dogs (I promise I am not insane). Colby is a grouchy, old Yorkie who is 14. And Luna, is a cute 85 lb, 4 year old, Golden Doodle who enjoys chewing up sticks inside the house, playing fetch with landscape rocks, and chewing up all of our shoes.

Having two teenagers, a 7 yr old, and a 3 yr old at home is definitely crazy, chaotic and not for the faint hearted. In fact, most days I feel like someone should be following me around with a camera filming a reality TV show. But, I tend to struggle with boredom and idle hands. When I do stumble across some free time, I volunteer regularly in the kids' school, sporting events and fundraising efforts and operate a small freelance business.

Hello, I'm Nikki...

Growing up in small town USA (aka Nokomis, IL) not only provided my childhood with endless amounts of boredom, but also time to address my urges to doodle, sketch, and color everything in sight, including my mother's bedroom walls.

These frequent outbursts were soon tamed when I began participating in art classes, clubs, yearbook staffs and design teams throughout middle and high school. So when everyone else was taking the "big leap" and deciding what they were going to be when they grew up, I was already enrolled as a Graphic Design major at the local community college.

An Associates degree in design and a few web/photography classes later, and I was loading up my car and heading to Eastern Illinois University. There I received a BFA in Graphic Design as well as a strong understanding in interactive & web design.

I took my first design job at a company named Systemax in Springfield, IL as a designer. At Systemax I was part of a small design team that not only provided the company's clients with marketing and advertising solutions as well as branding services, but also handled all of the internal design work for Systemax itself.

Three and a half years later, I took a new job at Richland Community College in Decatur, IL as a Creative Marketing Specialist. At Richland I worked with a design team to create and produce all of the college's campaigns, social media content, advertisements both inside and outside of the college, as well as any other materials needed. This could be anything from a full campaign consisting of large format banners and web graphics, to something as small as a brochure or pamphlet for a course or play coming up.

After having my daughter I decided to take my career a little closer to home. I have now been at Dometic in Litchfield, IL  for three and a half years and have loved every minute of it. I work closely with a great team to monitor and design the product catalogs, advertisements, social media, brochures and other literature and packaging design for all the channels the company offers, such as Sierra Marine, SeaStar Marine and Prime Line Outdoor Power Equipment. Dometic is currently undergoing a rebrand from the previous employer, SeaStar Solutions to Dometic. I am heavily involved in all aspects of the full company rebrand as well.

With the Marketing world growing consistently, I am always looking for new ways to expand my knowledge and skillset. And, I welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone who would like to get to know a little more about me.

Thanks for stopping by!

-Nikki
